Unusual for the combination of chocolate, spices and dried fruit, this cake has a lovely flavour. The handwritten recipe arrived from Norway via a friend who asked me to try it.
Cream the butter with the sugar until pale. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir in the flour sifted with the baking powder and spices, then add the milk. Mix in the ground hazelnuts, raisins, orange peel and chocolate until well combined. Spoon the mixture into the prepared cake tin and smooth level.
Bake in the preheated oven until the cake is just shrinking from the sides of the tin.
