Although perfectly fine for adults to prepare, this cake is ideal for children to make because it’s chilled rather than baked. Dark plain dessert chocolate works well, though two bars of intense orange chocolate with one bar of whole hazelnut chocolate produces an excellent flavour.

  • 300 g / 10 oz plain dessert chocolate

Method

Break the chocolate into pieces and tip into a heat-proof mixing bowl. Melt the chocolate in a microwave oven or over simmering water. Remove from the heat and cool slightly before adding the butter in pieces. Stir gently to mix.
