Home-made digestive biscuits are a treat – they can be left plain or dipped in chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 230 g / 8 oz wholemeal flour
  • 30 g / 1

Method

Measure the flour into a mixing bowl. Stir in the sieved sugar and bicarbonate of soda and add the butter in pieces, then rub in with your fingertips until absorbed. Mix the egg with the milk and stir into the dry ingredients to make a soft dough. Turn out on to a lightly floured work surface and roll out thinly until about 3
