The famous chocolate Christmas cake from France, made to resemble a Yule log. If need be, the cake can be stored in the freezer for up to a month. This is ideal as a seasonal present, when an alternative to the fresh cream filling may be called for. So I also give the recipe for a coffee butter-cream filling which has the advantage that the cake can then travel in a cool-box without the need for refrigeration.
