Puffed, crispy, golden fritters are a staple at Christmastime and at every carnival throughout Mexico. Our version, drizzled with vanilla-infused honey and cinnamon sugar, is always a popular sweet.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, plus ½ cup

Method

  1. In a bowl, sift together the flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, and baking powder. In the center of the bowl, add the eggs, milk, shortening, and butter and mix to form a ball.
