In the tiny french village of missillac, in brittany, news travels fast when martine starts to make a batch of caramels. The cleverest go straight to her home in the hope of scraping the sides of the pan while the caramel is still soft and warm. Everyone else waits and has them as an after-school snack, or after a dinner party. But mostly everyone waits for the next batch. There’s never enough to go around.
