Have ready 4 plates.
Melt the chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of barely simmering water (do not let the bowl touch the water) or in a microwave. Set aside.
Remove the ice cream from the freezer.
Slice the bananas in half lengthwise. Heat the butter and sugar in a skillet, and brown the bananas. Do not overcook or the bananas go soggy and lose their shape.
