This traditional dish is served with plain white rice, black beans, fried ripe plantains and Cuban-style fried eggs.

Ingredients

  • 2-2½ lb. boiled beef, preferably brisket, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Method

Heat the butter and oil in a large frying pan and add the green peppers, onion and garlic and cook until the onion is lightly browned. Add the tomatoes, bay leaf, cloves, salt and pepper and cook gently for about 10 minutes. Add the vinegar and the boiled beef and cook until the meat is heated through.
