Peel the pumpkin and cut into 1-inch cubes. Toss the pumpkin pieces in the flour, using up all the flour. Heat the oil in a heavy saucepan and add the pumpkin pieces and the salt pork. Sauté for about 10 minutes stirring from time to time. Add the garlic, parsley, marjoram, thyme, bay leaf, salt and pepper, and sauté for a minute or two longer. Add ½ pint of hot water, a little at a time, stirr
