Method

Sift the flour, baking powder, soda, allspice and salt together. Melt the butter, cool, and mix with the sugar, molasses, milk and eggs. Add to the flour, blending thoroughly. Fold both the grated and the crystallized ginger into the mixture. Pour into a greased 9-by-5-inch loaf pan and bake in a 350°F (gas 4)
