Remember, in the Caribbean “patties” are pastries stuffed with various fillings. These patties are made with a flavored pastry dough and filled with a TVP preparation that is similar to ground beef. Serve these at your next picnic with some tossed salad.

Method

  1. To make the pastry, put the flour, salt, curry powder, and turmeric in a large bowl. Add the margarine and rub it into the flour with your fingertips or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Slowly add the water, mixing it into the dough with as little stirring as possible. If you wish, divide the dough into half to make it easier to w
