Saffron, worth so much more than just its own weight in gold, is a spice that we use a great deal. Our suppliers are the Saffron Flour Company, who used to pack their saffron in Kingsbridge, near Dartmouth. They’ve now moved to Plymouth and diversified into fish and chip shop requisites – batter bases and so on. But they’ve kept the name and the saffron.
