Slow Cooker Roast

According to the Beaufort Gazette, at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 1969, Mrs. Howard Danner of 411 Craven Street, known in Beaufort as “The Castle,” opened her oven door to remove the roast her cook had placed there earlier in the day. The oven was empty, and the roast was gone. Mrs. Danner had just driven her cook home, and while she did, she left the house unlocked for a very short period of time. According to the rep
