The traditional Italian-American Christmas Eve dinner is called the Feast of the Seven Fishes. It is served to break the traditional fasting day of Christmas Eve at midnight with an array of seven or more seafood dishes. The traditional feast may include anchovies, whiting, lobster, sardines, baccala (salted cod), smelt, eel, squid, shrimp, mussels, and clams.
