This flavour combo reminds me of Jaffa cakes from my childhood. Chocolate and orange go really well together, and the tang of the marmalade with the bitter chocolate mean this is not too sweet. The chocolate strips give a fantastic, almost liquid chocolate centre to the croissant.

  • 50 ml ( fl oz) water

Method

  1. Bring the water and sugar to the boil in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat, then use a microplane to finely grate the orange zest into the sugar syrup.
