These crispy snacks are a common street food throughout India. They are a firm favourite at my Indian cooking classes too; we often eat them while we are waiting for the curries to finish cooking. They are addictively good and perfect pre-dinner snackage.

Ingredients

  • 150 g chickpea/gram flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½

Method

  1. Mix everything except the red onion and oil together in a large bowl. Add a little cold water to form a thick batter, similar to a pancake batter in consistency, then stir in the finely sliced red onions so that they are fully coated.
