Pile the slivers in a high mound on a small plate, and scald them with a quantity of boiling water, tipping the plate to drain them. Stir the remaining ingredients together to dissolve the sugar. Pour over the bean slivers and mix in lightly with chopsticks, keeping the whole in a mound.
