Hot chocolate, like tea or coffee, is sacrosanct. At breakfast and bedtime, everyone has their own technique. But when you have your girlfriends round for elevenses, or your friends and their children at tea-time at the weekend (as I am doing more and more), a hot chocolate - a real one, that is — is an extra-special treat.

Ingredients

  • 75 g ( oz) dark chocolate, in pieces
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Method

Place all the ingredients in the saucepan and heat gently, stirring with a hand whisk until all the chocolate has melted and the mixture is hot and frothy. Pour into cups and sprinkle with the cocoa powder or chocolate flakes.
