  • About

This is a traditional New Year’s Day dinner. Often it’s made by a favourite butcher who will happily make a ‘Desperate Dan’ (giant pie) to feed a large family gathering – sausages are the filler for the less well-off.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons beef dripping or oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 250 g

Method

Preheat the oven to 450°F/230°C/Gas 8.

Grease a 1.2 L (2 pt) pie dish.
