A homely version of a mealy pudding with dried fruit. It’s made in a dumpling cloth and cooked like a ‘clootie’ and was a favourite early-twentieth-century Saturday night tea speciality. Leftovers, fried up with bacon etc, make a sustaining Sunday morning breakfast.
