Kedgeree is a popular English brunch dish made with smoked fish, boiled eggs, curry powder and cream mixed into rice. The dish evolved from the breakfast dish called khichri, made with boiled rice, lentils and spices, which was enjoyed in colonial India. Kedgeree is traditionally made with smoked haddock, although any white or smoked fish will do, and many modern recipes use salmon.
