This nutmeg-scented bar cookie comes from my old friend Stephanie Weaver. They are named for her suburban Detroit childhood neighbor, Mrs. Barnes, who gave the recipe to Stephanie’s mother in the 1960s. A variation of an old-fashioned Southern cookie called a pound cake cookie, these will quickly become favorites.
