Buttermilk Fudge Gems

This delightfully old-fashioned cookie is like a rich little cupcake. They are excellent on their own but they are also easy to dress up with a rosette of butter cream or streaks of chocolate glaze.

To bake these, you’ll need mini muffin pans with cavities at least an inch deep. The size of these little pans varies somewhat so the yield of the recipe depends on the size of the cavities in your pans.
