This is a variation on a favorite cookie of mine—a dough that’s made from just flour, chocolate, and butter (plus a pinch of spice) enhanced by a suave milk chocolate filling. It is particularly easy to make and has all the delicacy and sophistication of recipes that require ten times the trouble.

- To make the dough, combine the flour, salt, and cloves in a bowl; stir well to mix.
- In another bowl, beat the butter with a rubber spatula until it is soft and creamy. Beat in the cooled chocolate, stirring until the mixture is smooth. Gently fold in the flour mixture, creating a smooth dough. Scrape the dough onto a piece of plastic wrap and shape it into a re
