New color with frozen tomato sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 (2½ to 3 lb.) broiler-fryers
  • ½ c. shortening or salad oil
  • 1⅓ c. chopped onion
  • 1 qt. block frozen Home-cooked Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 c. apple juice
  • 4 tsp. lemon juice
  • 2 c. water

Method

  • Brown chicken pieces in hot shortening in skillet Pour off fat Add onion and cook over low heat until golden.
  • Add chopped or thawed tomato sauce and remaining ingredients. Bring to boil; cover. Simmer 35 to 45 minutes or until chicken is tender.
