Ingredients

  • 8 slices day-old white bread
  • 2 tblsp. butter or regular margarine
  • ½ <

Method

  • Make four sandwiches from bread and butter. Cut into quarters or cubes.
  • Place two of the cut sandwiches in the bottom of a buttered 1½-qt. casserole. Sprinkle with half the cheese. Repeat, using remaining bread and cheese.
  • Combine eggs, milk and remaining ingredients; pour over layers in casserole. Refrigerate 1 hour.
  • Bake in slow oven (300°)
