Yellow cheese frosting gives the sandwich a festive Halloween look

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ) round loaf rye bread
  • 6 c. chicken salad
  • 3 to 4 (5 oz.) jars sharp process cheese spread
  • 2 or 3 tblsp. milk

Method

  • Remove outside crust from fresh loaf rye (or white) bread. Cut crosswise into four equal slices.
  • Put slices together like layer cake, using 2 c. of your favorite chicken salad mixture between each pair bread slices, 6 c. filling in all. (Other good fillings are ham, egg, tuna, salmon and finely cut shrimp salads. Two or three kinds may be used for each “cake.”)
  • Frost as you would cake with cheese thinned with milk to good spreading consistency. Chill several hours.
