Yellow cheese frosting gives the sandwich a festive Halloween look
1 (8″) round loaf rye bread
6c. chicken salad
3 to 4 (5oz.) jars sharp process cheese spread
2 or 3tblsp. milk
Remove outside crust from fresh loaf rye (or white) bread. Cut crosswise into four equal slices.
Put slices together like layer cake, using 2 c. of your favorite chicken salad mixture between each pair bread slices, 6 c. filling in all. (Other good fillings are ham, egg, tuna, salmon and finely cut shrimp salads. Two or three kinds may be used for each “cake.”)
Frost as you would cake with cheese thinned with milk to good spreading consistency. Chill several hours.
