You can’t surpass the green bean-bacon team, as this recipe proves


  • 2 to 3 slices bacon, cut in ½″ pieces
  • 1 (16 to 17 oz.) can French-style green beans
  • <


  • Fry bacon until crisp; drain off fat.
  • Drain beans, reserving ½ c. liquid; add beans and onions to bacon.
  • Combine bean liquid and lemon juice; stir in cornstarch. Add to beans; heat until sauce is thickened; add sugar and salt and pepper to taste.
