Tomatoes and cheese flavor beans

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 tblsp. butter or regular margarine
  • 1 c. cooked or canned tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • tsp. ground red pepper
  • 2 c. cooked frozen or canned lima beans
  • c. grated process cheese

Method

  • Fry onion and green pepper slowly in butter until golden. Add tomatoes; simmer 10 minutes. Add seasonings and well-drained beans; combine.
  • Alternate layers of bean mixture and cheese in greased 1-qt. casserole.
  • Bake in moderate oven (350°) 30 minutes.
