An old-fashioned country salad

Ingredients

  • 3 large tomatoes, peeled and sliced rather thick
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green pepper, seeded and sliced in rings
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • 3 tblsp. vinegar
  • 3 tblsp. salad oil
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. dry mustard
  • ½ tsp. celery seeds

Method

  • Arrange layers of vegetables in bowl. Sprinkle each with salt and pepper.
  • Combine remaining ingredients and pour over vegetables; cover and chill several hours, gently lifting vegetables occasionally to distribute dressing.
