The fruit in this salad is applesauce flavored with little cinnamon candies


  • ¼ c. red cinnamon candies
  • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cherry flavor gelatin
  • 1 c. hot water
  • c. sweetened applesauce (canned or homemade)
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • ½ c. chopped nuts
  • ½ c. finely cut celery
  • ½ c. mayonnaise or salad dressing


  • Mix cinnamon candies and gelatin, pour on hot water; stir to dissolve. Stir in applesauce. Pour half of mixture into 8″ square pan. Chill.
  • Blend together cream cheese (room temperature), nuts and celery; add mayonnaise. Spread in layer over firm apple mixture. Pour on remaining apple mixture. Chill until firm, unmold; garnish with small bunches of sugared grapes, if you like.
