Combine in heavy saucepan 1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped or finely cut with scissors, 1 c. chopped pecans, ¼ c. brown sugar, firmly packed, c. water and 1 tblsp. lemon juice. Cook, stirring constantly, until of spreading consistency, 3 to 5 minutes. Cool before using.
