You bake these in muffin pans—less work than frying doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 2 tblsp. shortening
  • ½ c. sugar
  • 1 egg

Method

  • Cream shortening, sugar and egg until light and fluffy.
  • Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Mix well (this will be a stiff dough). Stir in nuts.
  • Drop from tablespoon into well greased small size muffin-pan cups. Bake in hot oven (400°) 20 minutes.
