You skip rolling and cutting dough by quickly shaping with spoon


  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • c. sugar
  • 2 tblsp. melted butter or regular margarine
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • c. sifted flour
  • 2 tblsp. cocoa
  • 1 tblsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • Fat for deep frying
  • Confectioners sugar


  • Combine eggs, sugar, butter, milk and almond extract; mix to blend.
  • Sift together dry ingredients; slowly add to first mixture. Beat until smooth.
  • Heat fat to 370° (browns 1 bread cube in 1 minute). Dip balls of dough with spoon; slide into hot fat. Turn frequently to brown on all sides. Drain on paper toweling. Roll in confectioners sugar.
