Use the largest sweet cherries you can find to make this relish

Ingredients

  • 2 qts. cherries, stemmed
  • ¼ c. sugar
  • 2 doz.

Method

  • Select large cherries; wash and stem but do not pit.
  • Mix sugar, spices, tied in bag, and vinegar. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add cherries, cook slowly until tender. Remove from heat; let stand overnight.
  • In morning, remove spices. Drain syrup from cherries; pack them in hot jars. Boil syrup rapidly until slightly thick.
