Stir together 1½ c. sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Drain fruit, reserving juice; arrange cherries in 13 X 9 X 2" baking pan. Stir juice into dry ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil; boil 1 minute. Stir constantly. Pour 1½ c. hot sauce over fruit. Save rest of sauce. Dot fruit with ¼c
