This classic rice pudding has gelatin base with bright cherry crown


  • ½ c. rice
  • qts. boiling water
  • 1 qt.


  • Pour rice into boiling water. Boil briskly 2 minutes. Drain, then rinse with cold water.
  • Return to pan. Add 2 c. milk, 1 tblsp. sugar and salt. Bring to boil; add butter. Cover and simmer 20 minutes (do not stir).
  • Pour rice mixture into bowl. Add remaining milk and sugar. Cool.
  • Soften gelatin in cold water 5 minutes. Heat slowly until gelatin
