Ingredients

1 c. sugar
⅓ c. boiling water
Red food color (optional)

Method

Cook sugar with water until syrup spins a thread (235°). Add a few drops of red food color if you wish a pink mold.
Beat egg whites until stiff; gradually add hot syrup; continue beating until cool and light. Add vanilla and salt.
Fold in the whipped cream; pour into a 2-qt. ring mold and freeze.
