For a crowd stack two of these gingerbreads—a dramatic dessert


  • ½ c. whole bran cereal
  • ½ c. light molasses
  • ¼ c.


  • Mix bran, molasses, shortening and water. Add egg, and beat with rotary beater; let stand 5 minutes.
  • Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, spices and salt; add to bran mixture and stir only until blended. Pour into greased 8" square pan. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 20 minutes.
