  • About

A quick way to put a two-layer cake together when you’re in a hurry

  • ¼ c. butter
  • ½ c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tblsp. heavy cream

  • Melt butter; stir in sugar and cream.
  • Place cake layers on baking sheet, one at a time. Spread each layer evenly with butter mixture, spreading out to edges.
  • Place cake in broiler 6 to 8" from heat, and broil until bubbly and golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Broil each layer separately.
  • When second layer is removed from broiler, place on cake plate immediately and place first layer on it. Layers will hold together, and glaze will have run down the side to give cake a finished, appetizing look.
