Luscious cake, but fragile. Handle gently when filling and frosting


  • ¾ c. butter or regular margarine
  • c. sugar


  • Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, and beat until light and fluffy. Add melted chocolate and blend well.
  • Sift together dry ingredients; add alternately with water to chocolate mixture. Pour batter into three 8" round layer cake pans which have been greased and lined with waxed paper.
  • Bake in moderate oven (350°) 30 to 35 minutes. Cool o
