Work fast—pour hot glaze on cake as soon as it comes from oven

Ingredients

  • 1 c. salad oil
  • c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1 c. cooked and mashed prunes
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • Caramel Glaze

Method

  • Cream together oil and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately to creamed mixture with prunes and buttermilk. Stir in pecans.
  • Pour into greased and floured 13 X 9 X 2" pan. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 35 minutes. Put pan on rack. Pour hot Caramel Glaze over cake.
