Good standard pastry recipe—you can of course omit the food color
1c. sifted flour
3 to 4drops red food color
Mix sifted flour and salt; cut in lard with pastry blender. Add food color to water. Sprinkle on the water and mix with a fork until all the flour is moistened. Gather the dough together and press firmly into a ball. Line pie pan with pastry; flute edges and prick pastry. Bake in hot oven (425°) 8 to 10 minutes. Cool.
