Method

Combine sugar, shortening, molasses and vinegar in saucepan; bring to boil and cook 2 minutes. Cool.
Sift together flour, salt, soda, baking powder and spices.
Add eggs to cooled molasses mixture. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Chill.
