Ingredients

  • ¾ c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • ¼ c

Method

  • Cream shortening and sugar; add molasses and egg; blend well.
  • Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture; mix well.
  • Roll into balls about 1½" in diameter; place 2½" apart on greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly; press almond in center of each.
  • Bake in moderate oven (350°) 12 to 15 minutes. Remove cookies and cool on racks.
