  • 1⅓ c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ½ c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 3 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • c. milk
  • 1 c. chopped raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

  • Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  • Cream shortening; add sugar gradually; cream until fluffy.
  • Add egg to creamed mixture with chocolate; blend well. Add vanilla and milk. Stir in dry ingredients, raisins and nuts. Mix well; chill 30 minutes.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls about 2" apart onto greased baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 15 minutes. Remove cookies and cool.
