As easy to bake chocolate/orange and coconut cookies as one kind


  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. regular margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ½ tsp. orange extract
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1 ( oz.) can flaked coconut


  • Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
  • Cream margarine until fluffy; gradually add sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add vanilla; blend.
  • Add sifted dry ingredients. Mix well. Divide batter in half.
  • Add orange extract and chocolate pieces to one half dough and coconut to other half. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart onto greased baking sheet.
  • Bake in a moderate oven (350°) 12 to 15 minutes. Remove cookies and cool on racks.
