  • About

Nuts have a peppermint candy taste

  • 1 c. sugar
  • ½ c. water
  • 1 tblsp. light corn syrup
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 6 large marshmallows
  • 5 drops oil of peppermint or ½ tsp. peppermint extract
  • 3 c. walnut halves or pieces

  • Combine sugar, water, corn syrup and salt in a 2-qt. heavy saucepan. Place over low to medium heat and stir until sugar is dissolved, then cook to the soft ball stage (234 to 236°).
  • Remove from heat; add marshmallows and stir until melted. Add flavoring and nuts, stirring only until well combined.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. If mixture starts to set, return to heat for a minute and add a few drops of boiling water. Store in covered container, in refrigerator or freezer.
