Great with coffee or tea—a welcome change from sweet accompaniments


  • ¾ c. shortening (part butter)
  • c. shredded sharp cheese
  • ¼


  • Cream shortening until light and fluffy; add cheese.
  • Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Form dough into small balls about 1" in diameter; put on ungreased baking sheet about 1" apart. Place pecan half on each. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 15 minutes.
