Packages of the white balls go from home to youngsters away at school

Ingredients

  • 5 qts. popped corn
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 tblsp. butter or regular margarine
  • ¼ tsp. cream of tartar

Method

  • Turn popped corn into bowl. Cook other ingredients to firm ball stage (245°). Pour syrup over corn, stirring gently to coat kernels.
  • Butter hands and quickly shape corn into 3" balls.
